detailed Description
Nine carats. Heart cut. Red-pink. If there were ever any doubt that garnets deserve more attention – this stone settles it.
Umbalite is a variety of rhodolite garnet, named after the Umba Valley in Tanzania where these stones originate. What sets it apart immediately is the color: a warm red-pink that neither pulls toward violet nor slides into orange. It occupies its own space on the spectrum – rich and vivid, with a softness that makes it immediately wearable. In natural light, the stone develops a warmth that very few gems in this color range can match.
Then there is the scale. 9.01 carats, 12.78 × 10.99 mm, in a heart cut. That is a serious combination. The heart shape demands volume to read clearly, and here it has exactly that. The outline is clean, the cleft well-defined, the symmetry precise. Minor inclusions are present – at this size, in a natural stone, that is not a flaw. It is simply nature.
A heart-cut umbalite garnet at nine carats is not something you come across every day. This is a stone for a piece of jewelry that gets made once – and then worn for a lifetime.
