detailed Description
White Opal 4.85 ct
This opal displays excellent play of color. The name "White Opal" derives from its light base color. The characteristics of this opal suggest its origin from the Welo deposit in Ethiopia. This opal can absorb water, which is why it is also known as "hydrophanopal" in the trade. The weight of these opals can vary slightly depending on humidity. Upon contact with water, they can absorb it, which can lead to color changes. Jewelry featuring hydrophanopals should therefore not be exposed to excessive water contact.
Weight and Shape:
This opal is particularly well-suited as a ring stone or for a pendant. It weighs 4.85 carats. The teardrop-shaped gemstone is approximately 1.5 cm long, 1.1 cm wide, and 0.6 cm deep, making it ideal for jewelry.
