Paraiba Tourmaline 4.83 ct

Greenish-Blue Tourmaline

This Paraiba tourmaline is light blue with greenish hues that change depending on the lighting. It is transparent and contains only very small inclusions, which is quite rare for a gemstone of this size, especially for a tourmaline.

Brilliance thanks to its Faceted Cut

Its brilliance is attributed to the cut. The pavilion (lower part) of this gemstone is cut in the Portuguese cut, which consists of many rhombus-shaped facets. The crown (upper part) of the stone has, in addition to the table facets (top) and girdle facets (lower part of the crown), two rows of main facets (between the table and the girdle). This means the gemstone is "double brilliant cut".

Weight & Shape: Ideal for Rings, Bracelets, or Necklaces

This Paraiba tourmaline has an oval shape and weighs 4.83 carats, which is approximately 1 gram. It measures about 12 mm in length, 10 mm in width, and 6 mm in depth.

Due to its comfortable size, shape, and beauty, this light blue gemstone is ideal for creating jewelry. It can be set in a ring, bracelet, or a simple pendant for a necklace. To further enhance its beauty and brilliance, it can be paired with small diamonds or combined with other gemstones. Depending on taste and preference, the setting can be made in platinum, silver, or white, yellow, or rose gold.

A Paraiba Tourmaline from Mozambique

This tourmaline comes from Mozambique, where Paraiba-type tourmalines first appeared on the market around 2005. Most of these light blue gemstones come from the Alto Ligonha region.

The Paraiba tourmalines from Mozambique are about 500 million years old and were formed in magmatic rocks, known as pegmatites.
